The Vinayakar in this temple is said to be a Suyambu which means, it is there as it was and nobody designed the statue. A chain of Rudraksha decorates his neck.

The Processional Deities or Utsava Moorthi’s,  Sree Dakshinamoorthi Vinayakar and Ambal Sree Siddhi & Buddhi are placed facing the South.  The name Dakshinamoorthi is given to the deity because of this reason. Though this is exclusively a Vinayakar temple, the architecture and the poojas are maintained like a Saivite temple. In Shiva Temple, there will be Nataraja, the cosmic dancer. In Melattur temple, there is Nardhana Vinayakar (The Dancing Ganesha). He also sports a Trishula (trident) in one of his hands. He smiles and showers people His blessings, seated along with his consorts Goddesses Siddhi and Buddhi.

Since it is an exclusive Vinayakar temple, the Chandikeshwara shrine is constructed to the left side of the main deity. Such an arrangement cannot be seen in any other temple across India.

The temple has three prakarams. The first prakaram circumambulates the main deity, the second prakaram which circumambulates the  Dwaja Sthambam and the third which is outside the temple.

The temple has separate Mandapams for both Lord Bhairava and also Chandikeshwara. Apart from this, there are also the Alankara Mandapam, Vasantha Mandapam, Yaga Shala and the Madappalli- the temple kitchen
